The Assistant Director in our Ohio Department of Education State Chartered program assists the Center Director in managing the center according to established policies and procedures mandated by our Board of Directors and the Rules and Regulations required by the Ohio Department of Education.
The Assistant Director plays an administrative role in ensuring that the administration of the preschool operations is efficiently managed. The Assistant Director works closely with the teaching staff in supporting the implementation of the Fairfield Educational Building's innovative programs. In the absence of the Center Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for the safe operation of the center.
Position Objectives
- Assisting in the interviewing, hiring, training, and terminating of staff
- Mentoring staff in designing developmentally appropriate activities and environments for children
- Providing input to staff for maintaining safe and healthy indoor and outdoor environments
- Replacing absent staff in all classrooms on an as-needed basis
- Providing professional guidance to staff
- Developing and maintaining quality relationships with parents
Qualifications
The Assistant Director should have:
- Degree(s) in Early Childhood Education
- At least 2 years of Early Childhood Education teaching experience
- Good written and oral language ability
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills
- Flexibility in work hours and responsibilities
- Experience in the following would be an advantage: record keeping, state mandated filing, payroll functions, staff training, marketing and sales
