The Curriculum Specialist is an articulate and experienced early childhood educator who has the passion for nurturing, inspiring and developing young children in their quest to become next generation leaders.
The Curriculum Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing the approaches and theories proven to be developmentally and age appropriate for young children while meeting the curriculum mandates of the Board of Directors and the guidelines established by the Ohio Department of Education's Early Learning Content Standards.
Position Objectives
- Review, evaluate and select various models of current curricula
- Assess curriculum effectiveness in meeting the needs of individual children
- Coordinate the review/ assessment of current curricula to ensure that intended objectives and state standards are met
- Conduct informational discussions with staff regarding implementation of the developmental curricula for the individual classrooms
- Train, observe, review, and evaluate staff performance using the designed curriculum
- Lead informational sessions with parents explaining the center's developmental curriculum
Qualifications
The Curriculum Specialist should have:
- Degree(s) in Early Childhood Education
- At least 4 years of teaching in an early childhood setting
- At least 2 years of developing and implementing early childhood curricula
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of Ohio Department of Education's Early Learning Content Standards
- Experience in the following would be an advantage: understanding NAEYC's Developmentally Appropriate Activities, familiarity with different styles of curriculum, staff training and attendance at local, state and national conferences for young children
